Suburban Sports Training Center (SSTC), a new indoor athletic and recreational facility, is excited to announce that its expected opening for mid-December is right on schedule. Construction is almost complete on the 16,000+ square-foot field house located at 1032 Conshohocken Rd.i n Conshohocken, Pa.
"There is no doubt this facility will enhance indoor recreational and premiere athletics for youth and adults in Eastern Pennsylvania," Rob Brown, SSTC General Manager said. "We are offering diversified year-round programming for every age and ability level in a quality-controlled environment at an affordable cost. We want everybody to have the opportunity to participate."
The owners and staff of SSTC spent more than 2 years studying in an effort to design the most versatile year-round indoor sports building on the market. SSTC was created as a result of this research to offer a facility that would enhance and promote indoor play in an environment that optimizes the player’s experience. Only the best products were considered for the facility regarding lighting, equipment, and playing surface. The 115’ × 90’ field surface is covered with a state-of-the art synthetic product called Gameday Grass, which looks, feels and plays like real grass. This same grass-like surface is used all over the world.
Based on player feedback and years of research, SSTC has implemented out-of-bounds touchlines, rather than dasher boards, which are a standard feature found in other indoor facilities offering similar programs. "These dasher boards create a playing environment that doesn’t reflect the true game. I have interviewed dozens of coaches, from the recreational to the premier level, and they all agree that playing off these boards creates inconsistency and bad habits," Brown said. "Our training center will have actual out-of-bounds touchlines, which also reduces player injury."
SSTC will offer time for pick-up games (including flag football & kickball and scheduled league play for soccer, flag football, dodgeball, and eventually lacrosse. Other programs include training clinics, certification clinics and in-field training for baseball and softball. A loft area is also available for themed birthday parties, team celebrations, small meetings, and skills training. Full concession and vending services are available and offered daily.
On Jan. 8, 2011, SSTC will begin offering complete child development programs for children aged 18 months through 5 years. These development programs will include motor skills development, listening skills and more through soccer. Call for more information or to request a registration packet.
